DESCRIPTION:The Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of supersymmetric and extremal
(BPS) black holes has a precise statistical interpretation in the context
of AdS/CFT duality. However\, for non-BPS anti-de Sitter (AdS) black holes
in dimensions higher than three\, finding such a precise statistical inte
rpretation remains an open problem. After reviewing the microscopic interp
retation of the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy for large BPS black holes in fi
ve dimensional AdS\, and time permitting\, I will explain how some perturb
ative corrections\, deviating from supersymmetry and extremality\, can be
exactly computed from the microscopic perspective\, specifically\, in the
framework of four-dimensional maximally supersymmetric Yang Mills theory w
 ith gauge group SU(N).
