DESCRIPTION:Trudy F. C. Mackay is William Neal Reynolds Distinguished Prof
essor of Genetics at North Carolina State University\, and is a Fellow of
the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and of the Royal Society. Her wo
rk focuses on the genetics of mutation and variation in Drosophila melanog
aster and the analysis of complex morphological\, physiological and behavi
oral traits. She has been particularly influential in advancing our unders
tanding of the genetic causes of quantitative variation in populations\, a
nd is in the process of sequencing nearly 200 Drosophila genomes. In this
talk she will discuss the first use of a systems genetics approach to unde
 rstand complex traits in Drosophila.
