DESCRIPTION:In this talk I will describe some of our modelling work to und
 erstand&nbsp\;the dynamics and mechanics of active cell intercalations und
 erlying germband extension in the Drosophila embryo\, progressing from a v
 ertex model featuring locally patterned cell-cell interaction forces to a 
 more detailed 'apposed cortex adhesion' model. I will also discuss some of
  our work to implement a variety of 'cell-based' modelling approaches in a
  consistent computational framework.
