DESCRIPTION:The theory of diamonds and v-sheaves was introduced by Scholze
to generalize the tilting equivalence for perfectoid spaces. The theory o
f diamonds and v-sheaves has already found several applications to our und
erstanding of the local and global Langlands correspondences. Kimberlites
are a particular type of v-sheaf subject to some axiomatic behavior. Just
as diamonds enlarge the category of rigid analytic spaces one can say that
Kimberlites enlarge the category of formal schemes. Kimberlites show up i
n the study of integral models of Shimura varieties and of local Shimura v
arieties. In this talk we discuss how to think about kimberlites and discu
ss some of the achievements of the theory.
