DESCRIPTION:Heavy industry is one of the main contributions to global warm
 ing - steel\, aluminium\, cement\, glass and mining together account for o
ver 30% of all human greenhouse gas emissions. To reach our net zero targe
ts for the Paris Agreement\, emissions from these sectors need to be slash
ed by 75% over the next decade. At the same time\, these industries rely o
n energy-intensive processes that are very inefficient (eg.\, steel furnac
es have an overall efficiency of only 50%) and expensive. Optimizing away
those inefficiencies is one of our main weapons for cleaning up these dirt
y industries\, but it is hard - the physical processes are complex\, and d
ata are scarce and messy. At Calda\, our mission is to leverage new advanc
ements from the research frontier by combining physical modelling\, advanc
ed Bayesian methods\, and AI: we create breakthrough capabilities in proce
 ss optimization for heavy industry.\n\n
