DESCRIPTION:This is not a standard seminar. Due to admin responsibilities\
 , I've been largely out of research for a few years\, keeping in touch onl
 y through my PhD students. I will talk about two separate projects. The fi
 rst is some completed work where we derive a simple\, usable constitutive 
 model for a suspension of deformable spherical particles in a viscoelastic
  fluid. The second is a project we are just starting\, looking at a symmet
 ry-breaking instability in cross-slot flow of a viscoelastic fluid. If tim
 e permits I will also canvas the views of the room on direction of travel 
 for a third student who is working on numerical simulations of complex flu
 ids.
