DESCRIPTION:What makes an enzyme such a potent catalyst? Prof. Hilvert has
spent a career understanding biological catalysis in aqueous systems\, in
the context of both natural enzymes and engineered or synthetic construct
 s. Most recently he has made significant progress in the design and in-vit
ro evolution of artificial enzymes that test our understanding of the stru
ctural and reaction energy landscapes needed for catalysis. Come and hear
from Don\, one of the foremost thinkers in this area\, how close we are to
  designing enzymes from scratch.
