DESCRIPTION:In this presentation I will cover an introduction to gdb (GNU'
s general purpose debugger) and how to use it to search for bugs in your c
ode. You might think why HPC applications? Sure\, gdb can be used on prett
y much any binary but I have a focus on High-Performance Computing and sci
entific software. Typically HPC applications run on supercomputers where l
ocal access or X-forwarding may not be possible or practical -- this is wh
ere gdb really shines. I will also cover how to debug parallel application
s that are built on the MPI programming model and my efforts to make this
easier / less painful.\n\nHybrid Zoom details will be emailed to the RSE m
ailing list\; if you are not on the list\, please contact the organisers.
