DESCRIPTION:*Title 1*\n\nLong-term Biodiversity Monitoring at Scale\n\n*Ab
stract 1*\n\nComprehensive data on global biodiversity patterns is only ob
tainable through in-situ distributed sensor networks. However\, these mult
i-device networks are constrained by battery lifetimes\, must gather rich
data from power-hungry sensors\, and yet must be deployed in remote enviro
nments for long periods. We look at the feasibility of a prototype multi-s
ensor device using on-device reinforcement learning for power management.\
n\n*Bio 1*\n\nJosh Millar is a PhD based at the NetSys Lab at Imperial-X.
 \n \nHis current research interests include:\n- energy-aware ML\n- IoT and
  on-device ML\n- applied ML for sustainability \n\n*Title 2*\n\nCollecting
Deep Population Data for Amphibians with a Simple Phone and an ML Vision
\n\n*Abstract 2*\n\nClimate change is already impacting species ecology
and demography yet our understanding remains often dependent on shallow da
ta collection across large areas or short-lived\, localised projects elsew
here. Citizen science offers opportunities for survey innovation that can
radically change this and deepen our understanding of how species react to
climate change and what we could do to enable adaptation. I will present
a simple tool using existing technology for monitoring amphibians and a vi
sion for a better tool to build. \n\n*Bio 2*\n\nSilviu Petrovan is a Seni
or Research Associate at the University of Cambridge working on evidence s
ynthesis and biodiversity conservation\, often with a focus on citizen sci
