DESCRIPTION:Energetic materials are widely used in civilian and military a
pplications. Due to the hazardous nature of energetic materials their prod
uction\, storage and use attracts more regulation and qualification than m
ost other materials. This has resulted in two trends: (1) the intense stud
y of specific compositions as actively produced and (2) a conservative app
roach to material introduction.\n\nThe combination of these two factors me
ans that this material type\, generally under the umbrella of UN Hazardou
s Materials Type 1\, are subject to steady on-going research. This talk wi
ll attempt to put these materials in context and also identify some trends
  in current developments.
