DESCRIPTION:Homerton College and the Cambridge Faculty of Education have a
 \nlong tradition in children’s literature which has earned both institut
 ions\na strong national and international profile for high quality researc
 h and\nteaching. Distinguished scholars have taught the subject to many\nu
 ndergraduate\, postgraduate\, Advanced Diploma\, masters and doctoral\nstu
 dents over the years with excellent results. Between them\, both\ninstitut
 ions have hosted a dozen highly appreciated international\nconferences\, a
 ll of which have resulted in well reviewed edited\nvolumes. Members of the
  research and teaching team have made a\nname for themselves in influentia
 l roles on the national and\ninternational stage\, as well as publishing e
 xcellent books\, chapters\,\narticles and literary guides. Homerton Colleg
 e Library boasts a superb\ncollection of twentieth century children’s fi
 ction and some rare books.\nHomerton also hosts the annual Philippa Pearce
  Memorial Lecture.\n\nThe Centre has several distinctive features in compa
 rison to other existing centres in the UK. Its members have\nunique expert
 ise in poetry\, film and multimedial texts\, including picturebooks\, as w
 ell as in teaching and promoting\nwriting for children. The team has a str
 ong international focus and a special interest in historical and sociocult
 ural\nperspectives on children’s literature. We offer an exemplary balan
 ce of literary\, aesthetic and educational\napproaches to the subject\, as
  well as substantial theoretical expertise and wide experience of conducti
 ng empirical\nresearch in the field. We have strong links with the artisti
 c community of authors\, artists and poets (the Poet\nLaureate is an Honor
 ary Homerton Fellow) and literary and artistic institutions such as the Ar
 ts Council\, Poetry\nSociety\, Poetry Book Society\, Book Trust\, and Brit
 ish Council.\nThe key objectives of our centre are:\n* running excellent c

 developing and consolidating research in children’s literature\n* creati
 ng and enhancing a favourable scholarly community for advanced research in

 rkshops and other events\n* promoting Homerton College and the Faculty of
