DESCRIPTION:Co-authors: Claudia Nagel (KIT)\, Luca Azzolin (KIT)\, Giorgio
  Luongo (KIT)\, Patricia Mart&iacute\;nez D&iacute\;az (KIT)\nComputer mod
eling and simulation of cardiac function can be used in multiple ways to c
ontribute to overcoming clinical challenges: i) as a basic research tool t
o understand fundamental disease mechanisms\, ii) by identifying the optim
al therapy for an individual patient using a digital twin\, iii) by genera
ting large virtual cohorts of virtual chimeras for in silico trials identi
fying the optimal therapy for specific patient subgroups or to enable mach
ine learning on these scalable datasets. This talk focuses on the third ap
proach. After introducing the basic methodology for introducing relevant v
ariations of both anatomy and function\, we will give examples of how thes
e methods have been used to contribute to risk stratification and decision
support in the field of atrial arrhythmias.
