SUMMARY:The Navier-Stokes equations in active and multi-phase flows - John
  Gibbon (Imperial College London)

DESCRIPTION:As an applied analyst\, I am interested in the properties of t
he Navier-Stokes equations when coupled to active and multi-phase matter.
 In this talk I consider three examples: i) the 2D and 3D deterministic\, i
ncompressible Toner-Tu (ITT) equations of active turbulent phenomena\; ii)
the anti-diffusive Toner-Tu-Swift-Hohenberg (TTSH) equations in the same
field\; iii) the 3D Cahn-Hilliard Navier-Stokes equations (CHNS) of multi-
phase physics. My collaborators are Rahul Pandit (IISC)\, Nadia Padhan (II
SC)\, Kiran Kolloru (IISC)\, Anupam Gupta (IIT Hyderabad) and Nairita Pal
 (ITT Kharagpur).
