DESCRIPTION:Anti-diffusion in active fluids is a dissipative phenomenon th
at arises due to the breaking of detailed balance in these internally driv
en systems. When no arresting mechanism exists\, this results in MIPS. Whe
n an arresting mechanism is present\, it leads to self limited structures
of finite size. In this talk\, I will discuss clustering and self limited
structure in active fluids where the arresting mechanism arise due to alig
ning interactions between elongated particles. I will do this using two ex
amples : a) A microscopic model of self propelled rods enclosed in elastic
vesicles and b) experimental results from an active fluid made of microtu
 bules and kinesin motors.
