DESCRIPTION:The concepts of G-structures and of Cartan geometries admit a 
 naturalgeneralization to a setting which is most naturally interpreted as 
 smooth families ofstructures on the leaves of foliations. A key feature of
  this generalizations is that manyresults relating purely algebraic inform
 ation on the involved Lie groups and their Liealgebras to geometric proper
 ties of the structures remain valid. In particular\, appropriateversions o
 f constructions of canonical Cartan geometries from G-structures canbe gen
 eralized to this setting. In my talk\, I will introduce the general concep
 ts anddiscuss the construction of canonical Cartan connections in the case
  of AHS-structures(j1j-graded parabolic geometries).
