DESCRIPTION:In this talk\, I will discuss some of the processes which tran
 sport plastics\, and in particular microplastics\, through the ocean. In p
 articular\, I will focus on some new experiments in which we have explored
  the role of surface Langmuir circulation on the dispersal of plastics nea
 r the surface. The experiments will be complemented with some idealised th
 eoretical models.
