DESCRIPTION:Steven Hunt from Practical Action will be talking about his la
test work looking at Delivery Models for energy access to help overcome th
e barriers to implementation and sustainability. \n\nHe'll be discussing t
he framework Practical Action are developing for designing more effective
energy access projects by talking through several examples of\nPractical A
ction projects which have achieved scale-up. The main examples will draw
on experiences with Micro hydro in Peru\, Sri Lanka and Nepal sector devel
opment\, and the development of the improved Anagi stove in Sri Lanka whic
h has sold over 3m units. He'll describe the various features\nof the app
roaches with the use of the framework and highlight what he thinks are som
e of the key lessons for future project development and design of\ninnovat
ive delivery models to scale up energy access in developing countries.\n\n
Steve first got involved with EWB-UK in 2003 when he quit his job as a con
sulting mechanical engineer to go on an EWB placement working on slum deve
lopment in India. After a series of EWB-linked projects and jobs\, includi
ng relief shelter and wind turbine development\, he went on to do the Camb
ridge MPhil for Sustainable Development in 2004. He then worked on the EWB
National Executive and co-ordinated the creation of the Professional Netw
ork\, and in 2008 he was invited to join the EWB-UK Board of Trustees. \n\
nFor the last four years Steve has been working at the consulting arm of P
ractical Action (formerly ITDG) on energy access and development projects
 around the world.
