DESCRIPTION:Martin Schwab\, Professor of Neuroscience at the University of
  Zurich since 1985 and at the Eidgenőssische Technische Hochschule (ETH) 
 Zurich since 1997\, also directs the National Center of Competence in Rese
 arch funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation.\n\nProf. Schwab iden
 tified an inhibitory effect on axon growth in the central nervous system a
 nd\, with meticulous care and exemplary scientific methodology\, has moved
  from the identification and neurobiological characterisation of NOGO-A to
  the development of anti-NOGO-A antibodies\, now in late stage clinical tr
 ials\, as a treatment for spinal cord and brain injury. \n\nThis fine exam
 ple of clinical sciences\, now in collaboration with Novartis Basel and th
 e European Clinical Network led from the University Clinic Balgrist in Zur
 ich\, provides compelling evidence for structural and functional repair of
  focal lesions.  The story of NOGO-A and its potential clinical applicatio
