DESCRIPTION:The Virasoro algebra is central in all Peter&rsquo\;s work. &n
 bsp\;It first arose in S-matrix theory\, which is an attempt to study fund
 amental physics while feeding in only minimal information about spacetime.
  In return the Virasoro algebra constrains the possible nature of spacetim
 e\, and perhaps reveals a great deal about it. But the algebra has some st
 range features\, and plays unexpected roles.
