DESCRIPTION:Many symmetries of interest to physicists are not finite: gaug
 e theory makes use of Lie group symmetry\, which is not accessible to ordi
 nary (or higher) categories. &nbsp\;Nonetheless\, symmetries that arise fr
 om dynamical gauging of Lie group symmetries are well understood from a pa
 th integral perspective. We take steps towards unifying finite and dynamic
 al gauging in the language of smooth categories. &nbsp\;I will start by re
 viewing how one uses fusion categories in gauging of finite symmetries. I
 will then recall the electric and magnetic symmetries that arise in Yang-M
 ills theory from dynamical gauging\, and demonstrate how one can use categ
 ories of quasicoherent sheaves to recover these symmetries in 2d. &nbsp\;T
 his is joint work in progress with Matt Yu.&nbsp\;
