SUMMARY:Seismicity across the Earth-moon system - Alice Turner ( Universi

DESCRIPTION:This talk explores my recent work aimed at understanding earth
quake behaviour and tectonic processes on faults — both on Earth and on
the Moon — using seismic waveforms. We’ll begin deep within subducted
slabs\, looking at how these intermediate- and deep-focus earthquakes comp
are with their shallow crustal counterparts. From there\, we’ll take a d
etour to the Moon to ask how lunar seismicity — particularly deep moonqu
akes — parallels what we observe on Earth. Returning home\, we’ll cons
ider how often earthquakes occur in California before concluding with an o
verview of my ongoing research at the Bullard Laboratories. \nThis talk of
fers a wide-ranging view of seismic processes on Earth and the Moon — wi
th\, hopefully\, something of interest for everyone.
