DESCRIPTION:The rise in food prices of 2008 was followed by a fall\, but p
rices are still high and indeed rising again. As a result there are now o
ver 1 billion chronically hungry people in the world. Additional to this
challenge\, we have to increase food production by 70-100% by 2050. There
is much high level rhetoric and\, at the grass roots\, many laudable proje
cts\, but we need agricultural development that takes ideas and experience
to scale. I believe we need a new ‘Doubly Green Revolution' involving
innovative and imaginative applications of technologies and financing.
