DESCRIPTION:Since 2023\, fieldwork has resumed at the site of Khorsabad in
Iraq\, formerly Dur Sharrukin\, capital of the Assyrian king Sargon (722-
705 BC). This work is part of the long history of the discipline in the Ne
ar East\, since the very first archaeological excavations took place in Kh
orsabad itself in 1843\, carried out by a French consul\, Paul Emile Botta
. Almost 200 years later\, the research objectives are obviously no longer
the same\, even if many questions remain about this site\, which is still
wrongly believed to be known so well. This presentation will therefore fo
cus on the history of the site and the research\, as well as the recent fi
ndings of the new multidisciplinary archaeological mission.\n\nTo attend t
