SUMMARY:The Silent Clock in the Arteries: Rethinking Cardiovascular Risk T
hrough the Lens of Vascular Ageing - Catherine Liao (CONNEQT Health)

DESCRIPTION:Vascular ageing reflects cumulative pulsatile haemodynamic loa
d acting on the arterial system across the life course. Progressive arteri
al stiffening and altered wave dynamics precede overt disease and are inde
pendently associated with cardiovascular\, renal\, cognitive\, and pregnan
cy-related outcomes beyond brachial blood pressure. The central question i
s whether incorporating vascular ageing metrics meaningfully improves popu
lation risk stratification and preventive decision-making.\n \nThis talk w
ill examine vascular ageing as an upstream and measurable risk substrate\,
integrating evidence from arterial mechanics\, longitudinal cohorts\, and
emerging economic analyses. Particular attention will be given to acceler
ated vascular ageing and the translational challenge of harmonising measur
ement into outcome-anchored\, clinically actionable prevention frameworks.
