DESCRIPTION:Geostatistics is a branch of spatial statistics in which a maj
or objective is to model a continuously-varying quantity sampled at a disc
rete set of geographical locations. Positional error occurs when these lo
cations cannot be measured precisely. This talk will introduce the subjec
t of geostatistics\, and describe the effect that positional error has on
inference\, drawing analogies with measurement error in linear and non-lin
ear modelling. The implications of the results on a range of applications
in spatial and environmental epidemiology will be discussed.\n
