 sics at MIT.   He has made foundational contributions to several areas of 
 theoretical physics.   His work has been recognized with many honors\, inc
 luding the Nobel Prize in 2004.    He has written and lectured extensively
  for non-specialist audiences\, and won prizes for that too.  \n\nAbstract
 \n\nDoes the world embody beautiful ideas?  Pythagoras and Plato intuited 
 that it should\; Newton and Maxwell demonstrated how it could.      But mo
 dern physics\, and especially the quantum physics at its foundation\, answ
 ers with a much more resounding and definitive “Yes!”\n
