DESCRIPTION:The Murchison Widefield Array (MWA) is a low-frequency phased-
array radio telescope being constructed in Western Australia by an interna
tional collaboration. At a point in the project that could be called the
"end of the beginning"\, a 32 tile prototype system is operational at the
MRO site and the design of the 512T build-out is being finalised. I will
discuss the development and performance of this system and some lessons le
arned that will be relevant to other sparse-array projects.
