DESCRIPTION:Optimal control problems governed by mixed elliptic\nvariation
 al inequalities arising in flows of Bingham viscoplastic\nmaterials are in
 vestigated. A family of Huber type regularized control\nproblems is introd
 uced and convergence of the regularized solutions towards the original one
  is verified. An optimality system for the original control problem is obt
 ained as limit of the regularized ones. For the solution of the regularize
 d optimality systems\, semismooth Newton methods are considered. Numerical
  algorithms\, in the form of active set strategies\, will be described and
  convergence properties\, by means of numerical examples\, presented.
