SUMMARY:Structural biology of bacterial secretion systems - Gabriel Waksma

DESCRIPTION:The Waksman lab has recently solved the structure of very larg
e complexes involved in forming the secretion nanomachines responsible for
transport of transforming proteins and adhesive polymers through the doub
le membrane of gram-negative bacteria. These complexes shed unprecedented
light onto the mechanisms these secretion systems employ to secrete macrom
olecular virulence factors important in pathogenesis
