DESCRIPTION:Of current interest to the mining industry are the shock prope
rties of aqueous solutions. A Mie-Grüneisen equation of state is consider
ed an appropriate model for these liquids. Techniques for producing well-d
efined shocks in liquids during plate impact have been developed. Progress
towards the parametrisation of this equation of state for a number of liq
 uids is reported.
