DESCRIPTION:Ambassador Hamiti was born in Kosovo in 1964. He received a BA
  in English language and literature from Prishtina University (1987)\, an 
 MA in English literature from Zagreb University (1990)\, and a PhD in Engl
 ish literature from the University of Prishtina (2006) for his study ‘Na
 rrative Strategies and Meaning in Joyce and Conrad’. He has written a mo
 nograph on E. M. Forster.\n\nAmbassador Hamiti was a visiting scholar in t
 he UK in the 1990s at the University of East Anglia and Birkbeck College. 
 He lectured on English literature at the University of Prishtina from 1989
  to 2008.\nFrom 1991 through 1999\, he worked at the Kosova Information Ce
 nter (KIC)\, as editor-in-chief for the English service. Throughout the 19
 90s he worked closely with Dr Ibrahim Rugova\, and was affiliated with his
  Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK). He served as a media advisor and spoke
 sman for President Rugova from mid-2002 to January 2006.\n\nFrom 2006 to 2
 008\, Ambassador Hamiti was a senior political advisor to President Fatmir
  Sejdiu of Kosovo\, Rugova’s successor to the Presidency of Kosovo. Amba
 ssador Hamiti was a senior member of the Kosovo delegation to the internat
 ionally-mediated negotiating process for the determination of the final st
 atus of Kosovo from 2005 to 2007. The process was chaired by the UN Specia
 l Envoy for the status of Kosovo\, Mr. Marti Ahtisaari.\n\nAmbassador Hami
 ti set up the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in the UK\, and served as 
 the first head of the Embassy\, as Chargé d’Affaires a.i.\, from Octobe
 r 2008 till September 2009\, when he was appointed Ambassador of the Repub
 lic of Kosovo in London. In November 2009 he was designated non-resident A
 mbassador to New Zealand.
