DESCRIPTION:In the Phoenix Society's last talk of the term\, Oxford Profes
 sor of the History of the Church Diarmaid MacCulloch discusses writing his
  new history of Christianity and the making of its associated BBC TV serie
 s. In this work\, Prof. MacCulloch refocuses the story to show what an une
 xpected product modern Western Christianity is from an Eastern religion wh
 ose centre might easily have been Baghdad rather than Rome\, and he emphas
 ises the power of ideas to reshape human affairs.\n\nEntry\, refreshments 
 and wine are free of charge for College and University members.\n\nAs alwa
