DESCRIPTION:Polymeric foams are often used in passive safety applications
both for commercial products (e.g. packaging of electronic materials) as w
ell as for people (e.g. helmets). To improve the performance of safety sys
tems\, their numerical modelling under the conditions of use is of prime i
mportance. This numerical approach requires the identification of the foam
behaviour during an impact. The mechanical behaviour of polymeric foams d
epends on several parameters such as density and microstructure. The objec
tive of this study is to evaluate the effect of the microstructure on the
 foam behaviour.
