DESCRIPTION:Web mining (i.e.\, data mining applied to Web content\, link\,
or usage data) is often regarded as a premier foe of privacy\, and techni
ques for "privacy-preserving data mining" are seen as remedies. In this ta
lk\, I want to challenge this view by investigating different notions of p
rivacy and different forms and stages of Web mining. As part of this\, I w
ill highlight the importance of different perspectives and present tools w
e developed for analysing data in this way.\n
