DESCRIPTION:\nReal-time collaboration might be a way of improving producti
vity by providing a more streamlined flow of information between peers. Th
is talk describes how smartphones and tablets can be transformed into very
useful tools for collaboration. We will discuss the technology underpinni
ng an Android-based collaborative-editing application which might be benef
icial to users in environments without internet connectivity and where the
cost and the lack of a continuous power supply preclude server-based data
sharing. In our application\, consistency is maintained by operational tr
ansformations and judicious replication. Since edits on any device show up
immediately on all other devices\, conflicting edits can be resolved seam
lessly. This talk will also feature general tips and advice on using the A
 ndroid framework.\n
