DESCRIPTION:\nWe consider the problem of multiple comparisons with control
in a\nclinical trial with treatment selection at the interim(s). Our\napp
roach is an extension of group sequential methodology that involves\n join
t monitoring of the correlated\, sufficient test\nstatistics. We show the
heavy computation involved can be\ndramatically reduced when the number o
f stages is small and the number\nof treatments is large.\nWhen designing
the trial\, sample size can be chosen to satisfy a power\nrequirement base
d on the least favourable configuration of treatment\neffects. At each ana
lysis\, simultaneous confidence intervals are\neasily found such that the
overall coverage is at the required level.
