DESCRIPTION:Natural ventilation of double-skin facades (Nicola Mingotti)\n
We discuss the buoyancy-driven natural ventilation of double-skin facades.
We investigate how the double-skin facade and the adjoining rooms should
be ventilated in different seasons or climatic contexts. Summertime facade
overheating is a frequent problem. We study how to reduce the temperature
build-up in the facade during the warmer season. In doing so\, two ventil
ation regimes can develop in the facade: we determine which regime is more
desirable\, and how we can obtain it.\n\nEnergy Implications of Stratific
ation (Andrea Kuesters)\nAbout 40% of energy consumed in buildings is used
for heating. In this talk we explore the effect which temperature stratif
ication due to heating and ventilation has on the energy consumption in sp
aces. In the first part we explore a single space with various ventilation
methods and heat sources. In the second part we investigate multiply conn
ected spaces\, as can be found for example in a shopping mall.
