DESCRIPTION:Strigolactones are a new family of plant hormones that have be
en shown to have endogenous roles in regulating plant development\, partic
ularly shoot branching. Their mechanism of action in shoot branching is cu
rrently unknown but two alternative models proposing that their primary ta
rget is either a transcriptional effect local to buds\, or a systemic effe
ct on auxin transporter endocytosis currently exist. I will be discussing
new evidence that supports the latter hypothesis.
