DESCRIPTION:We consider a branching Brownian motion in which particles\nar
 e killed on exiting a strip and study the evolution of the process\nas the
  width of the strip shrinks to the critical value at which\nsurvival is no
  longer possible. We obtain asymptotics for the survival\nprobability near
  criticality and a limit result for the distribution\nof the process condi
 tioned on survival.\nThis is joint work with Simon Harris and Andreas Kypr
 ianou.
