DESCRIPTION:The Von Hugel Institute at St Edmund's will be holding a confe
 rence examining the relationship between Catholic Social Teaching and the 
 coalition government's 'Big Society' programme on Monday 25th and Tuesday 
 26th June 2012. The conference will examine the theory behind the 'Big Soc
 iety' as well as some of its practical applications.\n\nThe Von Hugel Inst
 itute has been researching the relationship between CST and the Big Societ
 y as part of a project funded by the Plater Trust and a summary of our dra
 ft report will be presented as part of this conference.\n\nThe conference 
 will bring together experts from a wide variety of fields including politi
 cal theory\, Catholic social thought\, practical theology and public polic
 y. It will be of interest to everyone involved in these fields and those i
 nterested more broadly in the relationship between Christianity and politi
 cs and society.\n\nSpeakers include: Lord Glasman\, John Battle MP\, Phili
 p Booth\, Clifford Longley and others.\n\nThe conference will be held at S
