the links - Gary Da Costa (Australian National University)

DESCRIPTION:In the first part of the colloquium I will use new results for
the little-studied distant halo globular cluster NGC 5824 to explore the
possiblity that globular clusters with internal heavy element abundance sp
reads represent the former nuclei of now disrupted dwarf galaxies. Then i
n the second part of the presentation I will discuss what recent results f
or ~1 Gyr old clusters in the Large Magellanic Cloud may be telling us abo
ut the origin of the ubiquitous sodium-oxygen abundance anti-correlation s
een in most\, if not all\, Galactic globular clusters.\n
