  Friends or Foes?\n\nThe Cambridge Triple Helix Society is organising an e
 xciting and FREE event named ‘Pharmaceutical Companies: Friends of Foes?
 ’ The event comprises talks by four distinguished speakers followed by a
  Q&A session.\n\nDespite the notable contribution of pharmaceutical indust
 ry to addressing world health problems and driving a number of scientific 
 research programs\, it is still often viewed by the public as an ‘evil i
 ndustry’. The event will question why it is so. We will address such con
 troversial issues as scientific honesty and data accessibility in drug tri
 als\, intellectual property rights and patent protection and the reasons b
 ehind the choices for R&D.\n\nWe have an excellent panel of speakers\, who
  are very passionate about this area. Some have personal experiences of in
 volvement in high-profile legal battle against pharmaceutical companies to
  fight for honesty in clinical trials. It promises to be a great event so 
 do not hesitate to come and contribute.\n\nOur speakers are:\n\nDr Peter W
