DESCRIPTION:We introduce the concept of quantum information and some of it
 s basic properties at a non-technical level.  We present the protocol of q
 uantum teleportation and two fundamental physical principles satisfied by 
 quantum information processing: "information cannot travel faster than lig
 ht" and "quantum information cannot be cloned". Finally\, we discuss how t
 hese physical principles imply bounds on the efficiency of some quantum in
 formation protocols\, which have application to new technologies under cur
 rent theoretical research.
