DESCRIPTION:Giovanni Pico della Mirandola (1463-1494)\, the star of the It
 alian Renaissance\, a byword for genius\, has been many things to many peo
 ple: a defiant champion of human dignity\; a syncretic seeker of all knowl
 edge\; a religious ascetic\; a sensual philosopher-prince\; a magician and
  Cabalist. Is there still\, in this hall of mirrors\, a way to glimpse the
  true Pico and to make sense of what he was actually doing? This talk is a
 n introduction to Pico and his works\, a creative destruction of myths abo
 ut him and finally\, a methodological reconsideration of what we call the 
 'Renaissance'.
