DESCRIPTION:According to current international law\, low-lying island nati
 ons whose entire territories will be submerged as a result of rising sea l
 evels lose not only their territory\, but also their sovereignty. By explo
 ring the content of the concept of sovereignty and possible ways to artifi
 cially raise the ground levels of island states\, the talk attempts to sho
 w that the contemporary international legal regime addresses the plight of
  drowning states in an unsatisfactory manner.
