DESCRIPTION:I will introduce a class of models of self-interacting random\
 npolymers and mention an approach to study it as a perturbation of a\ngene
 ralization of a free field. I will then show a simple new method to\ndecom
 pose free fields into sums of independent Gaussian fields with\nspatially 
 localized correlations. The method uses the finite propagation\nspeed of t
 he wave equation and related properties of Chebyshev\npolynomials discover
 ed by Carne.
