gnal Output Drives Renal Cancer Progression - Dr Sakari Vanharanta\, Cance

DESCRIPTION:Clear cell renal cancer\, the most common form of kidney cance
r\, is initiated by inactivating mutations in the VHL tumour suppressor ge
ne. This leads to the activation of HIF transcription factors\, which is e
ssential for renal cancer development\, but does not automatically lead to
the metastatic spread of the tumour. New results show that in some patien
ts\, epigenetic alterations can allow the expansion of the VHL-HIF transcr
iptional output\, leading to the activation of metastatic traits.
