DESCRIPTION:Electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) is an electrical\nimag
ing modality that can be used to estimate electrical properties\ninside di
fferent processing vessels. The presentation will describe\nhow ECT has be
en applied in monitoring of two processes that are\ncommonly used in pharm
aceutical industry. The first one is\ncalledhigh-shear granulation\, in wh
ich pharmaceutical powders are\nbuilt-up into granules with the help of hi
gh-shear mixer and binder\nliquid. The second is called fluidized-bed dryi
ng\, in which wet\ngranules are dried with the help of a heated stream of
air. In the\ncase studies\, monitoring signals that describe the progress
and the\ncharacteristics of these processes are generated from the ECT ima
 ges.
