DESCRIPTION:I will present a brief\, non-technical overview of how the geo
 metry of a physical system can be used to predict its evolution in time. I
 n particular\, I will focus on Einstein's Field Equations which describe t
 he physical phenomenon of gravitation. After a (very) short description an
 d history of the general theory of relativity\, I'll go on to discuss the 
 pivotal contributions of three mathematicians to this theory\, namely Emmy
  Noether\, Yvonne Fouret-Bruhat and Cathleen Morawetz.
