DESCRIPTION:LED lighting is good for our health\, long lasting\, dimmable\
 , contains no mercury and is very low energy.  So what is preventing its w
 idespread use? The answer is cost.  This talk will describe how research a
 t Cambridge will significantly reduce the cost of LED lighting in our home
 s and offices.  The talk will also describe the exploitation of Cambridge 
 research by Plessey\, which plans to manufacture 500 million LEDs per year
  at its factory in Plymouth\, based on the Cambridge technology.
